NWFL Confirms Castmog Ladies’ Relegation Over Registration and Licensing Non-Compliance

NWFL Confirms Castmog Ladies’ Relegation Over Registration and Licensing Non-Compliance
The Nigeria Women Football League Secretariat has officially confirmed the relegation of Castmog Ladies from the 2025/2026 NWFL Premiership after the club failed to meet mandatory licensing and registration requirements for the new season. NWFL Media Director Samuel Ahmadu announced the decision on Monday, November 24, explaining that Castmog Ladies were one of three clubs earlier warned to comply, but the Abeokuta side missed the final deadline despite repeated reminders. NWFL Chief Operating Officer Modupe Shabi said the Secretariat has already begun adjusting competition logistics, stressing that protecting the integrity of the league means registration and licensing compliance is non-negotiable. She added that updated fixtures and operational details will be released ahead of the season’s kickoff on Wednesday, November 26. According to the NWFL, all other affected clubs complied in time, leaving Castmog Ladies as the only Premiership team unable to meet the compulsory standards. With their relegation now confirmed, the new Premiership campaign will proceed with 19 teams, and clubs scheduled to face Castmog Ladies, including Rivers Angels, will observe a bye on those matchdays.
